One of the biggest issues at stake in the election in ten days is the push by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, the leader of the Labor Party, and others, for what is incorrectly and recklessly being called ‘marriage equality’. If marriage is re-defined to include homosexual couples, our Australian way of life will be drastically changed – perhaps forever. And the most tragic victims will be children who will be denied the possibility of being raised by both a mum AND a dad.
After years of defending man-woman marriage, Mr Rudd publicly reversed his position in May just prior to his return to power as PM. He now asserts that there could be two systems of marriage: civil homosexual marriage and church-based marriage that excludes homosexuals. But how then are two systems of marriage, ‘marriage equality’?

The Truth about ‘Marriage Equality’
Already we are seeing how promised assurances made to Christians prior to the introduction of new laws have not been honoured. Only weeks after the Marriage (Same-Sex Couples) Act received royal ascent in the UK, a homosexual couple, who describe themselves as practising Christians, are planning on suing the Church of England for being denied a church wedding. The couple, who have been in a civil partnership for seven years, had already made history as Britain’s first homosexual surrogate parents. Now it seems the millionaire couple want to make history again by taking the church they attend to court!
The Australian Christian Lobby also reports that “the pressure on the church from the homosexual political agenda is not just overseas. A local leader in the marriage equality movement, Ivette Madrid of Equal Love Canberra, told ABC radio last month she could not agree to churches being exempt from performing same-sex weddings. “The churches will be discriminating on the basis of gender and so I don’t think that should be allowed at all,” she said.
In this News Update, we want to make an urgent CALL TO ACTIONin the small window of time that is left between now and the federal election on 7 September.
1. PLEASE ring the candidatesfor your electorate (both the House of Representatives and Senate).
Tell them you are not in favour of marriage equality because it is an untruth. You can explain that you stand for marriage between a man and a woman and ask whether they are going to make a stand for marriage and represent your voice in the new parliament if they are elected.
For ALL candidate details, including phone numbers, go to the AEC website– click here
2. PLEASE contact these Liberal MPs who are being targeted by the Australian Marriage Equality group.
Encourage them to stand firm and support marriage being between a man and a woman – and oppose homosexual ‘marriage’.
Please share this News Update with others as widely as you can.
And please pray! Jesus declared that marriage was between one man and one woman when he quoted from the first chapters of the Bible saying,
“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate” (Mark 10:6-9).
Pray that what God has put in place for mankind so that human society can flourish will not be tampered with and ruined by man.
Yours for the Preservation of Marriage,
Warwick Marsh and David Rowsome
