DESTINY Update 5                                                                                         26 January 2016

Exciting Things Ahead!

debdfb12-00a7-42e3-a536-37da7431b815.jpgIt is with great anticipation that the Organising Team is preparing for this year’s National Day of Prayer & Fastingand 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Yes, it’s just 20 days now to the National Event! Registrations are coming in fast and nearly one quarter say they are going to Canberra. Others will be celebrating the day in their own local church or will attend Pre-events in their area. These begin in 12 days time and continue through the week leading up to the National Day.

This multiplication of prayer and fasting for the revival of God’s people and the transformation of Australia is very exciting. Jonathan Edwards, the famous American preacher, said, “When God has something very great to accomplish for His church …. He will begin by remarkably pouring out the spirit of grace and supplication (Zech. 12:10). ” We are hearing wonderful reports of new prayer initiatives springing up all across the nation and we believe this is a sign of God working in our midst.

Since last writing before Christmas, we can report these exciting developments.

  • There are now State events in NSW and NT. Thank you for praying.
  • Churches of Liverpool City, NSW are combining for a pre-event.
  • A newspaper, the Port Macquarie Independent, today are running a feature on these events in their monthly insert calledGod Smacked.
  • A country church in a field in Wandearah in rural SA are having a pre-event.
  • We are honoured to have an overseas prayer group in Zimbabwe committed to pray for Australia on the National Day of Prayer & Fasting.
  • Around 50 others are considering organising a Pre-event. It’s not too late for you to do that. You could incorporate it into an existing prayer group or home group.
  • The 40-Days devotionals are in the final stages of production after a year’s journey for Sue Tinworth with the Lord over this year’s theme.
  • Daily blessings for each of the 40 Days of Delight have been prepared and recorded for Christian radio by David Tensen. Nearly all the stations have agreed to air these under the name “Have a Good One“.
  • 72-hour Bible Reading Marathons will be held in Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane in connection with prayer days.
  • There is a new Media Release with links to all the important information for anyone just hearing about these events. Please circulate this document.
If you haven’t already registered, we encourage you to do that TODAY. There is no cost. We are trusting the Lord that the budget will be met by generous donations of His people. An offering will be taken at the Canberra event and at pre-events or you can give through GiveNow (preferred) or use this donate button.

Today we want to focus on celebrating the National Day of Prayer & Fasting in your local church. Many have indicated they would share the events with their church leaders. We trust you have received a favourable response. Here are some ways your church can be involved on 15 February.

  • A 5-10 minute spot during a service.
  • Songs chosen around the theme of DESTINY.
  • Different video clips showing our Christian heritage and revival history.
  • A written Prayer and Declaration read by one person or everyone.
  • Small groups praying for different prayer points.
  • The whole service following the theme of praying for Australia’s destiny to be fulfilled.
  • Watching some of the live webcast from Canberra as part of, or after, the service.
  • A time after the service for those who would like to stay and pray for Australia.

Whatever your church leaders decide to do, we have prepared different resources for them to use as suggestions. These can be found at Guidelines for Churches and Pre-events or you can downloaded them now.

    1. Guidelines for Your Event
    2. Suggested Resources
    3. A Sample Service
    4. A Short Prayer and Declaration
Jesus said in Mark 11:24, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” So let us continue in prayer together believing for revival and transformation of our nation for the glory of God.

Yours for the Destiny of Australia,

David and Marilyn Rowsome

HELP NEEDED!

In the next few days we will send information to churches
who may not have heard about these events.
Six faithful volunteers have been making a database of all the churches in Australia.

An excellent website Australian Churches is very helpful.
But they need more reinforcements to complete the job!
If you have a few hours in the next week and can help,
could you reply to this email. Thank you.
