To help us understand the ‘destiny’ that God has in store for us and our nation we will:
Reflect on the ‘heritage’ of our Judeo-Christian foundations which began with the coming of the First Fleet in 1788. This was built upon by the Christian Church as it grew and spread on Australian soil. Many excellent resources on our Christian heritage can be found at www.chr.org.au
Appreciate our ‘identity’ as Australians and the freedoms and values that have made Australia a great place to live. We will not forget the heroic sacrifice of so many who fought to preserve and protect our Australian way of life especially as we mark the 100th anniversary of the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli on 25 April 2015.
Delight ourselves in God as our Heavenly Father that we may enter into the ‘destiny’ he has planned for each of us as His children. This will particularly be the focus of the 40 Days of Prayer & Fasting which is being called 40 Days of Delight! Our personal and national DESTINY is found as we delight in the Lord!
In all these, it is through faith in Jesus Christ that we enter into our ultimate DESTINY of eternal life in the presence of God. Jesus dying on the cross for our sin, rising from the dead and ascending into heaven to be seated at the right hand of God has opened the way for mankind to find peace with God! Hallelujah!
Through these 40 Days of Delight, devotions will be sent by email to those who request them when registering. These will include:
40 Daily Steps toward God and your God-given DESTINY.
40 Daily Blessings: via audio & radio broadcast by David Tensen.
You can read the 5-Point DESTINY Prayer Plan and other details about the 40 Days of Prayer & Fasting at www.40daysofdelight.com.au.
Churches and individuals participated in these events in various ways in 2014. You can read some stories and commentshere.
Finally we want to highlight some things you can do to enter fully into these events in 2015 and to share them with your church, family and friends.
Register regardless of whether you will participate in Canberra or elsewhere. You will be asked to tick some boxes to show how you want to be involved. This will help us to send you appropriate resources.
Use the share buttons or the web link at the very top of this email to post this on social media. You can add the comment “I have registered and I encourage you to do the same”.
Forward this email to your family and friends. Help us spread the word far and wide so that all Australian Christians have the opportunity to be involved.
Talk to your church leaders or your group’s leader about your church/group’s involvement in these events. You can order posters and flyers by filling in this form. (It may be best to start advertising now before the holiday season. Pre-events around the country leading up to the National Day will start on 7 February so they will come upon us quickly next year!)
Volunteer to help in various ways (click on the hands below or here to say how can help):
We need those willing to search the internet for contact details for churches and other groups so that we can inform them of these events.
We need those willing to phone key contacts, for example, radio stations.
We need help with social media and websites.
We need volunteers to help on the day for the Canberra event and other State events.
We need many to organise pre-events wherever they are.
We need funds for printing and promotion (click on the button below or here).
Let us come together in gatherings all across Australia in fasting and prayer. Let us take time to delight in the Lord through the 40 days leading up to Easter. As we give thanks for who He is and the great things He has done, let us look forward to the wonderful ‘destiny’ He has planned for our nation.
