LAST MINUTE IDEAS ON HOW TO CELEBRATE THE NATIONAL DAY OF THANKSGIVING

The National Day of Thanksgiving is a day of celebration of our Christian heritage and of the Christian values that have made our nation great. It is a day when we thank God for all that He has given us as a nation and thank each other for the selfless contribution different people have made to our lives or that of our communities. It is a day when Christians across our nation are invited to become the hands and feet of Jesus by doing acts of kindness to others, especially those who are not as well off as we ourselves may be. More than 1500 communities are expected to participate in the National Day of Thanksgiving celebrations, in so doing engaging with an estimated 250,000 people across the country.

If you haven’t yet made any arrangements to celebrate the Day, it’s not too late. Why not consider undertaking a simple act of kindness towards someone who has been a blessing to you over the past 12 months. Even taking someone for a cup of coffee to show your love and appreciation could have quite an impact on their lives. Don’t forget, saying THANK YOU opens doors nothing else can.

TELL US YOUR THANKSGIVING DAY STORIES AND SEND US YOUR PHOTO’S AND VIDEO FOOTAGE

Each year we gather together material that could be used in promoting next year’s National Day of Thanksgiving. We encourage you to take photos and send us your best three or four along with a brief story. In taking photo’s please endeavour to ensure that viewers of them can visually identify them as a National Day of Thanksgiving event.  Please send them to info@thanksgiving.org.auIf you have a video camera and can capture your Thanksgiving Day events, please mail us the footage addressed to Mr R J Burman PO Box 365 Seven Hills NSW 1730.

We would also love to receive a written report of your event that we can share with others.  Please send them through to us at info@thanksgiving.org.au  Your stories are important because they allow us to tell other people about some of the creative and successful ways our National Thanksgiving Day has been celebrated

START PLANNING FOR NEXT YEAR

Well not straight away. Like us, take a short break after all your hard work. But at least write the date into your diary now SATURDAY 31st  MAY 2014

Western Australians are welcome to celebrate the day one week earlier on 24th May should they so desire to avoid a clash with the June long weekend in that state.
