1. We pray for renewal and things get messy, how can this be?
Things begin to change
God takes control and we take our chances with his holiness and grace.

Sin is confessed and uncovered in the most unlikely quarters.

Dormant lay leaders in the congregations begin to flex their muscles.
Power structures get threatened.
People look around other churches as they get hungry for that missing something.
Those who are waiting for ‘God’s will’ or ‘God’s timing’ miss out.
New churches and expressions of mission begin popping up.
God does some rearranging of the wider Church.
Historically, renewal is born in prayerful expectation, and when in urban settings, interdenominational cooperation. Unity of spirit becomes a major prayer point.
A culture of honour grows where intentional fellowship costs something and doesn’t depend on others passing through a particular theological grid.

The kingdom of God is not fair. Those who are immersed in His kingdom, get more. Those who don’t understand, get less. Renewal starts with the minority who ‘get it’.

The process of birthing of new life can be a bit messy
Lets have eyes to see and ears to hear what the Holy Spirit is doing in our region

For those who don’t quite know how to respond to the Trump phenomenon and politics in general….
We can be encouraged by the story of Daniel living the the centre of a huge, complex political world.
Amongst it all Daniel found time to pray three times per day (6:13).
We are given an insight into the prayer life of this young captive serving in the king’s court in 9:20
“While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and making my request to God for his holy hill – while I was still in prayer…

2. Lent

Lent begins on Wednesday March 1 and ends on Thursday April 13
But there is a serious side. It’s amazing how the discipline of ‘fasting’ from anything forces our attention onto spiritual matters. Good way to be motivated to pray!
As Jesus said, do it secretly with a smile on our face as an act of worship.
3. Events
Good News from Keiraville International Church
Just as an update, we were able to meet with 230 students in the past two weeks. Yesterdays Welcome BBQ had 25 new students joining us; this is the exact number joined us last week as well, so, together we had 50 new students, which is a good number to start the year and to do a quality follow up.
All glory to God of the harvest!

National Gathering Sydney 2-3 May 2017
A National Conference to Explore City Gospel Movements.
In May, people from around the nation and from overseas will be gathering in Sydney for the inaugural National Gathering. The event is open to leaders and interested Christians from church and market place.
The purpose of the NG is to encourage and to inspire delegates with stories of how the gospel can, and is impacting cities and towns around the world, including our own nation. Tim Keller from Redeemer Church in New York described this city gospel movement:
The movement has seen incredible results in New York where there’s been a 300% growth in Christianity in recent years. At no point in history has there been such potential for a new growth of Christianity.
“The speed (and growth) of the gospel in a city is in proportion to the depth of unity in that city in the body of Christ”.
