1. Ministry at Albion Park gets a boost through combined prayer

Steve Cathcart and other Christian leaders in the Albion Park area have watched the video links below (item 3) telling the Whatcom story. They are putting into practice those same principles.

Steve describes what’s happening:

“Combined Prayer.

Once a month the churches of Albion Park join together for prayer. We begin at 6pm by bringing a plate of food to share with one another. At 7pm the children are looked after and the adults join together for reading of the bible, praying for specific points, and then focus on praying for a church in town. We finish at 8pm. These are wonderful nights of encouragement.

At our last event we were praying especially for our Combined Churches High School Scripture team. It had been a tough term and the Scripture teachers had asked the churches for prayer support. During the following Sunday services, the churches also made a concerted effort to pray for the Scripture programme and teachers. At 9am on Tuesday the Scripture teachers went into the school. Another church, unaware of what was happening at the High School felt led by the Lord to prayer walk around that school during this same period of time.

As we joined together for prayer it became apparent how the Lord was leading all of us in prayer for the teaching of his Word in the local High School. God does amazing things when, we as churches, pray together!

The scripture teachers reported that during and after the prayer day, the atmosphere at the school was totally different.”

2. Wonderful things happening all over the UK as churches come together, in all sorts of ways, for Prayer and Mission under the name of Gather. See 2 minute TouTube. This is truly inspiring for those who have a heart for their suburb, region, city or even our country!

A way forward would be for local fraternals to take the concept on as a key project.

4. Latest Christian Movie  God’s Not Dead 2opens in Australian Cinemas on 28th April. The more people who see it, the longer it will be shown.
God’s Not Dead is getting rave reviews from Christian leaders in the USA where it opened on the 1st of April. It came in at number 4 in the Box Office in its opening weekend against Batman V Superman and other Hollywood blockbusters. This is an astounding result considering God’s not Dead’s budget at 5 million is just over 2% of Batman V Superman budget of 250 Million.

Reverend Ian Barnett from Figtree Anglican Church has written an excellent, insightful item comparing the power of the modern social media to the magic mirror in Snow White. The wicked queen regularly checks her inbox, the mirror, to see how she is tracking. To quote Ian, “Facebook, Facebook on my tablet, who is the fairest, cutest, has the most talented children, goes to the best holiday destinations and hangs out with the coolest people of them all?”
