1. Declaring the Kingdom of God, the big picture.

John the Baptist, Jesus, the 12 disciples, the 72 disciples, Philip and Paul all  ‘declared’ the Kingdom of God. The last chapter in the book of Acts twice describes Paul declaring the Kingdom of God in parallel to teaching about Jesus.

Declaring the Kingdom of God is being part of ‘Heaven invading Earth’

Matthew 16:19 (Amp, Williams, plus commentaries) I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound (declared be improper or unlawful) in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare to be proper and lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed (declared to be proper and unlawful) in heaven.

“We should talk to God about people more than we talk to people about God” (attributed to Bonhoeffer)
“The safest place to be is on my knees” (A local saint)

2. A story in the Wollongong Advertiser:
“When the Salvos took on (the) Devil and authority”.
What an exciting time it was in the 1800’s for the Salvation Army in our region. They filled the streets, caused a riot, got thrown in prison, all to the sound of a brass band. It’s a great read!

In Jesus last days, he rode on a donkey, He will return with an army on white horses. Rev 19:11-16

3. The War room Movie is paying for another week at Cronulla.  Quote from the Australian Prayer Network:

The faith-based drama War Room, by filmmakers Alex and Stephen Kendrick, earned a staggering $11 million in its box-office debut in the USA over the weekend despite playing in only 1,135 theatres. The prayer-themed film marks the highest debut for the siblings and is their fifth collaboration after Courageous, Fireproof, Facing the Giants, and Flywheel. This past weekend, War Room placed No. 2 behind Straight Outta Compton, which earned $13.2 million, but after playing in 3,142 locations. Stephen Kendrick says: “We pray God will use this film as a means to rally the Church back to prayer, because we know that when prayer happens, He will be true to His Word and His character, and every ministry of every church will be blessed, and we will become salt and light to the world.”

In response to this amazing movie: please ponder, pray and even plan how to better use our older generation of saints in ministry, especially in the areas of prayer and discipling.

4.  City Women report on the recent annual UNITED event. The 2015 theme was”Arise”:

“UNITED wasn’t merely an event.”On the night of Saturday September 5th, around 200 people, mostly women from different churches and backgrounds, filled the Cedar Christian College Hall to celebrate what our God is doing all through the Illawarra region.

After an open prayer by Ps. Katie Marsh (Lighthouse church), we enjoyed the first hour of UNITED 2015 with a scrumptious dinner and live music providing the environment for networking and fellowship.

The night continued with a worship followed by interviews, powerful testimonies and presentations by Ps Rachael Hanzy (Gateway City Church), Liz Hamilton of Bella Magazine, Claudia Blackmore (KindMatters) and Rebecca Galagher (Mannahouse church).

It was an unforgettable night, filled with love, a spirit of unity and joy!

UNITED 2015 endeavored to unite and celebrate women, God’s favour upon our city and His love for our Illawarra!”
