2018 A Quick Review
It’s been a mixed year for the churches in the Illawarra, with some wonderful things happening throughout the Body of Christ.
An increasing focus on prayer.
A stirring that something is happening in Australia, despite the media and political onslaught against our Christian heritage and values.
People experiencing “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven”.
Leaders widening their responsibilities from ‘congregations’ to ‘regions’
Grassroots rekindling of bold public personal evangelism
The ongoing fruit of Awakening Australia
Pastor Lloyd Ollerenshaw is finishing up at Shellharbour Baptist Church early in the New Year. After many years of ministry, he reckons he’s due for a bit of a break.
There will be a farewell celebration 3pm, Sat January 12th.

All welcome.
Carolyn Meers reports from Port Kembla:
We have had a really good year in our Port Kembla ‘fraternal’ (we really should have a different name as it’s not just for men). One of the things that is most beautiful about our times together is the diversity among us…we come from all different denominations (Baptist, Anglican, Charismatic, Catholic, ACC, non-denominational & YWAM) and hold different positions (senior leaders, assistant ministers, base leaders, chaplains, key Christians within the community), some of us are full time in ministry, others part time and some bi-vocational. We pray differently, approach our faith in slightly different ways, are passionate about different things, and are reaching all different types of people. We are men and women being faithful to seeing God’s kingdom unfurl slowly in our little part of the Illawarra, and we’re seeking to love one another in our differences rather than let them divide us. When we gather we focus more on building relationship, encouraging one another and praying for our region. In the words of Scot McKnight the church should always be ‘a fellowship of differents’ and that is what we are fostering down in Port, and it’s a wonderful and a challenging thing to participate in.

New Year’s Day Sunrise Prayer Relay
All Christians are invited to gather at significant public locations throughout the Illawarra to pray at first light on New Year’s day.
This is the very best way to bring in the new year.
There is no set agenda. Suggestions: take communion, read the Word, pray, praise, and share the gospel with others around.
Sunrise is 5.47, so a great time to start is around 5.30.
(Last year our group arrived to find the place trashed by New Years Eve party goers. This year I’ll be taking gloves and cleanup gear)

We’ve had a special request from the Keiraville International Church to promote a New Year’s Eve worship night.

Movement Day is becoming a premier forum to bring Australian Christians together to explore best practice, and in particular to expand our cultural vision from ministering to churches to ministering to towns and cities.
The next 2 day conference is in Sydney 8th and 9th May 2019
From Ian Shelton:
I recently had the wonderful opportunity to visit Washington DC where Christian leaders from 160 global cities gathered to share stories about how God was moving in the towns and cities of the world.
Here in Australia we are excited to be a part of this global movement as we gather at Movement Day Australia in Sydney, May 8-9, 2019.

See Ian’s short video introduction.

The Hourglass of Time

Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail. And, with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. All of this made him what?
A super-calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

Pray with, and for, other Christian leaders in your area.
How is your local leaders fellowship going?
There are currently 6 people from different churches (with Darryl Stewart as Coordinator) on the board who take responsibility for the network.
Please note and forward any event items which you would like included in the website
Blessings, Darryl
