1. Carolyn Meers, pastor of Central Church Pork Kembla writes:

(edited slightly)

Rick Prosser (click on his name for details) and Carolyn have been working together on building the ‘Pioneer Network of Churches’ in Australia.

As part of that network building, Rick is coming down here to Wollongong to stay with Luke and Carolyn and spend some time with their church leaders and preach on Sunday.

Rick will be down on Thursday May 26th and stay until Sunday…he will also come along to the Wollongong Prayer Breakfast. When Carolyn and Rick were over in the UK with the Pioneer Network leaders, Rick spent some time up in Manchester with some leaders up there. Just a few weeks ago, Rick had Roger Sutton and David King out from the UK. They travelled extensively together, joined by Ian Shelton from Toowoomba.

Following the note from Carolyn above, we are invited to

meet with Rick at 10am Sat May 28th at The Foundry Cafe (Salvation Army) Wentworth St Port Kembla.

In the business world every good manager knows what best practice looks like.

As wise church leaders use also should have our ears to the ground, looking for opportunities to learn from others.

Come along and chat with Rick as he shares his learnings from his recent travels.

It may be a busy weekend for some, especially with the Wollongong Prayer Breakfast on Friday. We all however have responsible leaders in our churches who would be honoured to explore with Rick some of what’s happening in the world out there. A great example of this is CityServe at Shellharbour where Rick originally shared what was happening amongst the churches in his home town of Newcastle (NSW)

Wonderful things happening all over the UK as churches come together, in all sorts of ways, for Prayer and Mission under the name of Gather. See 2 minute Youtube. This is truly inspiring for those who have a heart for their suburb, region, city or even our country!

A way forward would be for local fraternals to take the concept on as a key project.

2. A Christian foundation of our culture is under attack:

Bill Shorten backs same sex marriage

Bill Shorten makes it plain where he stands on homosexual marriage.

“If you’re unhappy with a company that’s involved with the [pro gay marriage] campaign, you won’t be able to bank and you won’t be able to fly anywhere.” Alan Joyce, Qantas CEO. (Alan Joyce is a very public homosexual who is drawing the business world into this campaign)
Excellent Catholic Publication “Don’t Mess With Marriage”
We can’t just ignore the current sexual revolution, it knows no boundaries.
