AUSTRALIAN PRAYER NETWORK NEWSLETTER – SPECIAL EDITION
EGYPT – A NATION AT THE CROSSROADS
Despite the violence that continues to engulf many nations in the Middle East there is good news. God has not been defeated. In quiet ways His Presence is evident and His Kingdom is expanding. Four years ago many of our APN newsletter readers became aware of our desire to do something different in a strategic nation in this region. At the request of local Egyptian leadership and in keeping with a spirit of unity and knowing God’s desire for believers to unite across cultural, ethnic and political divides, we were inspired to become involved in equipping pastors and leaders across the Church in Egypt.
Now into its fifth year, we have seen an average of 450 pastors and leaders each year attend our annual week of training held at a secluded location in the Western Desert of Egypt. Over this time, as well as the conference, we have built a Marriage & Family Counselling training track and commenced last year, an Emerging Young Leaders of Leaders Seminar where we take a select number aside for a time of in-depth teaching and mentoring. We have been blessed in the fact that seasoned pastors and leaders from across the Australian church have given freely of their time and paid their own way to be our speakers at this event.
The response from those who gather has been one of overwhelming thankfulness and deep appreciation to those of you who financially make it possible for them to attend. In this you are in fact bringing a “cup of cold water” to the persecuted brethren that Jesus spoke about in Matthew 10:42. Such comments as these below continue to inspire us to continue to shoulder the burden to equip the church of Jesus Christ across this nation and region. “Ben’s annual team visits to encourage, equip and pray for the leaders of the church in this nation is strategic and sensitively timely. It is greatly appreciated and well received by the local leadership. Prayer and financial support for a continuation of this work is vital. Rev. Dr Stuart Robinson, Founding Pastor Crossway Church.
“I believe that Egypt is a strategic country for reaching North Africa and the Middle East. I’ve had the honour of joining Ben as a speaker at his Pastors and Leader’s conference in Egypt. We were very conscious of people’s prayers because the Spirit’s presence and empowerment were tangible and evident. God moved among the leaders in an extraordinary way. Ben’s God-given vision for North Africa and the region is inspiring. His and his team’s commitment to prayer, his tenacity of vision and sheer hard work are beginning to reap extraordinary results. I believe in what he’s doing and support him and his vision 100%” Ps. Bruce Hills International Leadership Development Director for World Outreach International.
Dear friends, over the past four years, we have been greatly encouraged and blessed through the continued financial support from many of you. In this we wish to express our sincere thanks to those of you who give sacrificially each year. Will you again financially sow into this kingdom work and help us continue what we started together? If you haven’t done so before, can I ask you to prayerfully consider this request to sow a financial gift? We again need funds to cover the attendance of at least one or more Egyptian leaders. It costs us approximately $50 per head for transportation, accommodation and food. Will you consider sowing $50 dollars to help train one leader?
